Hi friends and welcome to the backyard! As we know, Every Home Needs a Gnome. But did you also know that Every Gnome Needs a Puppy! That’s right and now you can craft one in minutes.
Are you ready to choose the size and color of your new furry friend? Let’s get started!
Materials you will need:
- Plastic Container Open On One End, Recyclables Are Awesome!
- Faux Fur
- Ribbon
- Pom Pom
- Pink Felt
- Twine
- Small Rubber Band
- Hot Glue
- Exacto Knife/Straight Blade Retractable Knife
- Scissors
Let’s get started!
Step 1:
Cut fur to wrap around your entire container overlapping by ½” also cut 2” longer so you have excess fur at the top. Always carefully cut fur pile side down with a straight blade. You also want to cut in the hairs natural direction. I recommend placing a cutting board underneath the fur as to not damage the surface you are cutting on.
Steps: 7, 8 & 9
Craft a tiny bow with ribbon and twine. Hot glue bow to tuff of fur on head.
Cut small pink oval from felt and glue to pom-pom.
Attach pom-pom nose and tongue to front of container.
How cute would an entire family of these pups be in a variety colors and sizes! And guess what their low maintenance… they don’t eat much or need to go for a walk! I hope you enjoyed this DIY and remember to always incorporate your own crafty personality into every project!
Love them. Thanks for the help.

So cute. Thank you for instructions can’t wait to make some.
HI Leigh! They are so adorable! Would a plastic applesauce container work to make these cute dogs?
Oh I definitely think so! Any smaller container should work. People are using pill bottles, vitamin bottles, etc.
You just want it to have a little height so your puppy is not too small. Enjoy!
I am enjoying seeing your puppy love gnomes , and do plan to whip some up!
Thank You so much!!
